The beginning is a scary thing to think about when you are starting a new website. I start this new series of tips to hopefully help answer many questions for those who are starting a home based or small business for the first time. So to start this off, the first question I ask is, Why do you want a website? Why you need a website: A website for a home based or small business can serve two initial functions, an online business card and provide additional information for potential clients (acts like an online brochure). As you grow you start to utilize the site more and more depending on your services. For example,ABC Lawn Care, this company provides lawn care to its clients. The website could have information on services offered, have an about us page providing a little history and experience in lawn care and maybe a way to contact the company and list the prices and seasonal discounts. The site could advance into a service by offering tips about lawn care and other related articles of interest. Each business is different. A business that sells products might need a site which can process credit cards and orders. Another company might need to be visible to search engines to drive potential clients their way. So where do we start? Well that is another discussion for my next article. Check back next week! In the mean time if you have any questions please feel free to contact me by click on the contact button above.
